Now since this is a website about financial responsibility I’m going to encourage you to try and find these books at the local library for free. That being said some of these books may have very long hold times or may not be available for free in audio book form. I’ve provided links below to help you find the correct book, if you do choose to make a purchase I will receive a very small commission which I will put back into this web project. Thank you and enjoy the reads!

F.I.R.E. Topics

This book arguably started the FIRE movement by putting into writing what so many people were thinking. It’s one of the first books I read about financial independence and I remember I kept thinking to myself, they need to teach this stuff in school!

Early Retirement Extreme - Jacob Lund Fisker

I don’t agree with everything in this book, but the four quadrants is a solid concept that you should understand.

Money Management

Great Starting place for anyone in debt and wants to change their lives, really appreciate his K.I.S.S. - Keep It Simple Stupid approach

The Millionaire Next Door: The Surprising Secrets of America's Rich
By Thomas J. Stanley Ph.D., William D. Danko Ph.D.

Great book, probably the second book I read when I was younger and it completely changed my thinking about what it means to be rich.

Investing

This assortment of topics has helped my understand the wild world of investing.

This book is mandatory reading before you invest money into any individual stock or “tip” on crypto you get from a friend. It has some excellent sections on survivorship bias. I’m surprised this book isn’t recommended by more “investing gurus it’s very well done.

This book is a technical read that is a bit long. Maybe try to find a condensed version if you’re not a numbers nerd. The core concepts are hugely important. A lot of people make financial decisions based on what “normally happens.” This book dives into how devastating an odd event can be. You must understand this if you’re investing your money. The term “black swan” is thrown around a lot in the news and the author has argued that recent events don’t fit his definition. we know wars, pandemics, assassinations will happen. what he argues is what happens when things we don’t think could possibly happen …. happen?

Liar’s Poker - Michael Lewis

long read but very interesting!)

Interesting view on how exceptional companies are born

This is an interesting look at how central banks, governments, and big business don’t see money the say way you do.

A little inspiration for the side hustler in you

You’ll thank me later, Warren Buffet frequently references this book. It’s an older one, but the fundamentals have proven themselves over time and are still very relevant today!

Planning & Goal Setting (the art of getting shit done)

If you want to retire early you have to learn to effectively execute on plans and recognize what you can change and what is outside of your circle of control. this book has been a number one book in every business school for over 30 years for good reason. if you haven’t read it yet you need to.

This book is well researched and thought out. I found it useful in both forming better habits for myself as well as understanding my bad habits and easy ways to break them. solid read especially if you are trying to change your money habits.

This book was one of the books I read around the time I needed a good kick in the ass and motivated me to grab life by the horns and demand better for myself. If your feeling stuck in life and spinning your tires. this will probably be a good read for you.

Philosophies of Life

When you take the path less traveled sometimes it’s good to take some time and reflect on yourself and why the world is the way it is. I’ve found the below books to be very helpful

This is a good look at how to turn adversity into opportunity.

I picked this book up expecting a productivity book (and it is) but it also swings a wreaking ball thru some of your fundamental assumptions about life priorities. a very well researched book and excellent examples. I will be rereading this one soon.
